Upon arrival to the Puerto Vallarta airport, you have several transportation options to Punta de Mita. These vary in price and level of convenience, so it’s wise to make your choice in advance so you aren’t overwhelmed when you arrive. If you want to stop at a grocery store on the way to Mita, be sure to negotiate that in advance (“Quiero hacer una parada en la Mega o Walmart”)

Airport Taxi
As you exit the airport you will be offered taxi service. They are convenient and safe, but expensive. For detailed information please review the Pre-Arrival Packet.
Rate: Approximately $70-$80 USD (Nov-May), $60 (June- Oct).

Taxi from Outside of the Airport
These taxis do not have permits to pick up in the airport and their rates are somewhat lower. Note that taxis from Mita to the airport, for your return trip, can be from $50-$70 USD and are sometimes hard to find on Sundays. For detailed information please review the

Public Transportation from the Airport
Bus service is efficient, easy and reliable. If you have energy and can manage your luggage easily, this is the most affordable option. For detailed information please review the

Rent a Car
There are several rental companies at the airport, with desks located after you exit baggage claim. It is recommended that you reserve in advance. For detailed information please review the Pre-Arrival Packet.

If you have plenty of time and want to get some free stuff, you can play the Timeshare game. Some people love it, some hate it’s up to you.
